E-Commerce Systems Administration
SanMar is a family owned nation-wide distributor and manufacturer of wholesale apparel and accessories. SanMar is currently seeking an E-Commerce Systems Administration. The SanMar IT Department is a fast-paced, rapidly growing team. The growth allows individuals to help define processes and improve the department. Each member is involved in creating methods to move the entire group forward. Members enjoy variety in their jobs during each workday. This position combines System Administration & Operations roles together. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Manage and maintain Linux and Windows Servers, Cisco Firewalls, F5 Big IP Load Balancers and Network Routers. Performs daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and vailability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs,and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups. Works with and set up tools and utilities e.g. Nagios,Puppet, Racktables, etc. Writes Shell Scripts as needed. Installs new and rebuilds existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements. Develops and maintains installation and configuration procedures. Contributes and maintains system standards. Researches and recommends innovative, and, where possible, automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale. Performs regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions. Creates, changes, and deletes user accounts per request. Provides Tier III/other support per request from various constituencies. Investigate and troubleshoot issues. Resolve issues and provides communication to IT, users and customers. Will escalate issues as necessary. Repairs and recovers from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies. Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Performs periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning. Performs ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Maintain data center environmental and monitoring equipment. Run and create tools to assist with monitoring of programs. Other Duties as assigned. Requirements: Thorough understanding of Linux Servers running Apache/Tomcat Servers. Knowledge of Windows Servers running IIS. Knowledge of tools and utilities e.g. Nagios, Puppet, Racktables, etc. Good Knowledge of Shell Scripting. Prior supervisory experience preferred. Knowledge of F5 Servers. Time Management Skills. Ability to accurately triage issues, Identify the root cause of the problems, assignment of problems to correct team or service group once escalated. Ability to multitask. Ability to work effectively and positively in fast paced environment. Able to perform the physical requirements of the job. Accountability and willingness to learn. Ability to analyze and solve problems. Ability to determine the nature of computer hardware and systems software problems, and to communicate technical guidance and information to users. Basic familiarity with Network Infrastructure - basic technical knowledge of Lan/Wan, Web Technologies. Applications and Remote access, VPN etc. Basic Remote Access and Extranet- Technical knowledge including RAS/VPN/Modem access. Basic familiarity with Remote Control tools (SMS, Other) to remotely resolve customer issues. Qualifications: Bachelor (4-year) degree, with a technical major, such as engineering or computer science. Systems Administration/System Engineer certification in Linux/Unix and Microsoft. Four to six years system administration experience supporting Linux/Unix systems. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Work Environment: Work environment is moderately noisy. Employee must be able to handle strenuous customer deadlines and be flexible and available to interact with employees at all levels.
